Deacon ordination (Photo by Sean Gallagher)

History made as
25 men ordained permanent deacons

History was made on June 28 at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis. That day, Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein ordained the first class of 25 permanent deacons in the history of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The new permanent deacons will be ministering in parishes and in such places as jails, hospitals and nursing homes. (See also: Photo galleries One & Two | Archive of News Stories)

He went to the Holy Land with his grandfather when the exile was ended. It might be assumed that he was either a youth or a young adult when he made this trip as few grandparents at the time lived long enough to see their grandchildren reach middle age.
