VolunteersFather Paul Etienne appointed new bishop of Cheyenne
Father Paul D. Etienne has been appointed the new bishop of Cheyenne, Wyo., by Pope Benedict XVI. The appointment of the priest from the Archdiocese of Indianapolis was announced on Oct. 19 in Washington by Archbishop Pietro Sambi, apostolic nuncio to the United States. Since July, Bishop-designate Etienne, 50, had served as pastor of St. Paul Parish in Tell City, where he was born and grew up, and St. Mark Parish in Perry County. (Pages 1-2)

‘Sacred Spain’ exhibitHistoric Catholic artwork and artifacts are celebrated in ‘Sacred Spain’ exhibit
“Sacred Spain: Art and Belief in the Spanish World,” a unique, one-time exhibition at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, is an incredible assembly of 17th-century Catholic artwork and artifacts from Spain and Latin America. Free admission to the temporary exhibit—which opened on Oct. 11 and continues through Jan. 3—was made possible by a $1 million grant from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation. Homecoming week at Indiana University is traditionally a time for football and friends, but for some students, Oct. 14 was set aside for a different kind of homecoming. Bloomington-area Catholics were also invited to to join students for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and an outdoor procession. Despite rain that day, nearly 100 people attended the procession, which was led by Father Michael Fritsch, the pastor of St. John the Apostle Parish in Bloomington.
