My Journey to God

The Labyrinth

I start my journey
with small measured steps.
I don’t look far.
Small birds call,
the sun warms my back,
leaves rustle and fall.
Some skitter by.
Small stones mark
other passersby.
I talk to God.
He listens.

The retreat included time for prayer during a walk on the labyrinth adjacent to the chapel on the scenic wooded grounds. The archdiocesan retreat house will celebrate its 60th anniversary on Oct. 23.)
