Catholics may eat meat on March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph

The Solemnity of St. Joseph, March 19, falls this year on a Lenten Friday, a penitential day for Catholics when they abstain or do not eat meat.

However, since the day is a solemnity, Canon #1251 of the Code of Canon Law dispenses Catholics from the abstinence rule. †
