You think you are pregnant. This was not in your plans. Fear, confusion, and anger are just a few of the feelings you are experiencing. You can rest assured that St. Elizabeth-Catholic Charities will be here for you, supporting you every step of the way. Facing an unplanned pregnancy can be confusing and overwhelming. St. Elizabeth-Catholic Charities is here to help you make the best decision for you and the baby. We offer services to give accurate information and support in this decision-making process. 

Every pregnancy, and every woman's life situation is different. If you would like to learn more about St. Elizabeth-Catholic Charities or are interested in applying for residency, please call our office at 812-949-7305 to set up an appointment for a preliminary interview.  If you are outside of the Kentuckiana area, please call 1-800-227-3002.  Upon completion of the intake process and approval, placement is made based on availability in the home.

Young women facing an unplanned pregnancy encounter problems that often times overwhelm them. They look for a solution, but find only confusion adn discouragement.  They crave the chance for a fresh start, but don't know where to begin. At St. Elizabeth-Catholic Charities, these women find the opportunity for healing, instruction, and guidance to make healthy choices.  The Maternity Home offers an atmosphere of faith, hope, and love to the young women during their pregnancy and thereafter.  The young women are wrapped with services that are helpful to them during their time of need: providing help and creating hope. Assisting young women since 1989, our services include:

  • Housing and support through our residential homes
  • Counseling: Individual, family, couples (co-parenting), and groups
    • To help our clients initiate a plan for their future, both during and after their pregnancy.
    • To foster a spirit of independence for themselves and also to pass on to their children, enabling many to break dependent roles.
    • To encourage self-esteem and life goals
    • Job preparation and development of life and job skills
    • High School Diploma/GED options
    • Assistance with job search, resume building, interview skills
    • Daily assistance with improving independent living skills
  • Outreach Services: Referrals to community resources appropriate to client's needs
  • Medical: Prenatal and postnatal care
    • Labor Coaches
    • Postpartum/parenting assistance
    • Referrals to all necessary medical care

St. Elizabeth's maternity home provides a place for single mothers to start a new life.  Whether the resident decides to become a responsible parent or place her baby in a loving adoptive home, she will be given the support and counseling she needs during that process.
