St. Barnabas Catholic Church and School, a vibrant and growing parish community on the southside of Indianapolis, is seeking a hands-on Director of Facilities & Maintenance to oversee the care, maintenance, and operation of parish and school facilities, grounds, and equipment.

The Director of Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all parish and school buildings, grounds, mechanical systems, and equipment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This position requires hands-on involvement in repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee repairs and preventative maintenance for parish and school buildings, grounds, and equipment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and mechanical systems
  • Coordinate routine inspections and ensure proper functioning of all facility systems
  • Monitor and maintain safe and clean building conditions throughout the campus
  • Prioritize and respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all fire, safety, health, and environmental regulations
  • Maintain maintenance records, schedules, and inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Assist with setup and support for parish, school, and community events
  • Participate in emergency response and after-hours maintenance needs when necessary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on facilities or maintenance experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Lighting and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs independently
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of applicable fire, safety, and health regulations
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance duties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Experience in school, parish, commercial, or institutional facilities preferred
