Saint Patrick Catholic Church is seeking a dedicated and passionate Director of Liturgical Music to lead and enrich our parish’s music ministry.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all liturgical music programs, ensuring that musical offerings elevate the worship experience and foster spiritual growth. Your leadership will help cultivate a vibrant choir and music ministry team, promote musical excellence, and uphold the sacred traditions of our faith community.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and oversee music for all liturgical events, including weekend Masses, holy days, funerals, weddings, and special parish celebrations.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to plan music for weekday school Masses and special school liturgies.
  • Serve as the primary instrumentalist for liturgies (piano proficiency required).
  • Conduct weekly or biweekly choir rehearsals.
  • Maintain and operate parish sound systems.
  • Select and order new music as needed; collaborate with the business manager on budget planning.
  • Recruit, welcome, and support new choir members.
  • Provide training and preparation for cantors and other musicians.
  • Attend parish staff meetings and liturgy committee meetings.
  • Schedule cantors for Masses and other celebrations.
  • Work closely with the pastor on additional responsibilities as needed.

Position Specifications / Requirements

  • Knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy or willingness to pursue ongoing formation.
  • Compliance with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
  • Completion of Safe Parish Training.
  • Successful background screening.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers and staff.
  • Fidelity to Catholic teachings and liturgical directives from parish clergy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
