Position Overview
Our Lady of Lourdes School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and mission-driven After School Care Director to lead our after-school program. This position oversees program operations, supervises staff, ensures a safe and nurturing environment for children, and supports the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual development of all participants.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Manage the daily operations of the after-school care program in alignment with the policies of Our Lady of Lourdes School, the parish, and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
- Maintain a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment.
- Recruit, interview, and recommend after-school care staff to the principal.
- Maintain and update after-school care parent and staff handbooks.
Child Interaction & Safety
- Interact positively and appropriately with children as a role model of Christian values.
- Ensure counselors implement age-appropriate large and small group activities.
- Guarantee continuous supervision of all children.
- Comply with Safe Parish policies, including reporting concerns immediately.
Staff Support & Communication
- Provide direction and support to part-time counselors.
- Demonstrate effective collaboration and teamwork among staff.
- Communicate openly and clearly with parents, staff, and the principal.
Program Environment & Administration
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space.
- Ensure proper storage and safe use of toys, equipment, and supplies (per OSHA, HazMat, EPA guidelines).
- Keep accurate program records.
- Use sound judgment in all aspects of program operations.
- Participate in required meetings and in-service training.
- Perform additional duties as needed to ensure program success.

- Understanding of and adherence to Archdiocese of Indianapolis professional conduct expectations.
Education & Experience
- Successful completion of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training.
- Ability to meet all Archdiocesan Code of Conduct requirements.
- Must pass a background check.
- Experience working with children in school, youth group, camp, or childcare settings.
