St. Luke Catholic School, located on the north side of Indianapolis, is seeking a principal to begin the 2026-2027 academic school year. We serve a Preschool-8th enrollment of approximately 600 students in a Christ-centered, nurturing, and academic environment. We are dedicated to preparing students to attain their greatest potential to make a positive difference in God’s world.

As the administrative head of St. Luke Catholic School’s ministry, our principal has the chief responsibility for the operation of the school and for following policies and guidelines established by the Office of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, including the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools (NSBECS).

Summary of Position Duties

The successful candidate’s duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  1. Primary school ministry representation to parents, pastoral leadership, St. Luke parish, and the community at large.
  2. Responsibility for building and reinforcing a strong Catholic culture through faith-based leadership.
  3. Development and maintenance of an academic curriculum that meets all objectives and requirements of NSBECS and which evolves as necessary to stay at the forefront of the educational field.
  4. Provide instructional leadership by supporting curriculum implementation, effective teaching practices, and student achievement while promoting continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making.
  5. Lead with a spirit of collaboration, cultivating a supportive and positive school culture where staff feel valued, teamwork is encouraged, and students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
  6. Provide visible, approachable leadership in the school building and at school and parish events that builds trust and encourages open communication among all stakeholders.
  7. Work collaboratively with the Pastor and Business Manager to oversee the school budget, financial planning, facilities, and day-to-day operations, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.

Summary of Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this position, a candidate must

  1. Be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
  2. Possess exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  3. Be dedicated to the development and preservation of the school’s Catholic identity, including modeling a well-practiced Catholic faith through daily words and actions.
  4. Exhibit a passion for student achievement and academic excellence.
  5. Demonstrate skill in hiring, training and retaining teachers and staff, with a passion for building and developing a culture of spirituality, shared goals, enthusiasm, and teamwork.
  6. Possess a valid administrator’s license.
