Liturgist (Part-Time)

St. Bartholomew Catholic Church is seeking a part-time Liturgist to lead and coordinate the liturgical life of our vibrant, multicultural parish community. This role is responsible for ensuring that all liturgical celebrations are well-prepared, reverent, and aligned with the liturgical calendar and the traditions of the Catholic Church.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all parish liturgies, including daily and weekend Masses, feast days, Holy Week, and special celebrations.
• Support sacramental preparation and coordinate the celebration of Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, and OCIA rites.
• Recruit, train, and supervise liturgical ministers (lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, greeters, etc.).
• Serve as Master of Ceremonies for major liturgical events.
• Collaborate closely with clergy, parish staff, music ministry, and the Arts & Environment team.
• Manage liturgical supplies, scheduling, worship space aesthetics, and related administrative duties.
• Provide formation and education for parishioners on liturgy and Catholic worship.
• Support pastoral care through involvement in funerals, weddings, and parish outreach.

Qualifications

• Fully initiated, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
• Master’s degree in theology or significant experience as a Master of Ceremonies.
• Strong knowledge of Catholic liturgy, GIRM, and the Catechism.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and liturgical seasons as required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Must complete Archdiocese of Indianapolis child safety training and background screening.

Additional Information

• Part-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
• Reports to the Pastoral Associate and supervises liturgical volunteers.
• Requires participation in ongoing spiritual and ministerial development.
