Catholic Community Foundation Director

Position Summary
The Director of the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) carries out the vision outlined by the Executive Director and Advisory Board of Directors with strong operational knowledge. This role is responsible for supporting the mission and financial growth of the Catholic Community Foundation, a crucial giving vehicle within the Office of Stewardship and Development. The Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and partners with donors to advance the Foundation’s work.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the Stewardship and Development Leadership Team.
- Collaborate on major gift proposals that lead to transformational giving opportunities.
- Understand and strive to exceed Key Performance Indicators.
- Amplify the Foundation’s role as a strategic giving vehicle while supporting overall office success.
- Prepare board materials, facilitate meetings, and foster board growth and involvement.
- Oversee new endowments, donor-advised funds, charitable gift annuities, fund distributions, and grant disbursements.
- Ensure proper documentation of all gifts received and distributed.
- Represent the Archdiocese at community events, donor functions, and public engagements.
- Maintain uniform contract processes and serve as an agent in contract discussions.
- Promote the Foundation to estate planners, financial advisors, and related groups.
- Recommend candidates for volunteer leadership roles on the board and committees.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies and professional standards.
Qualifications
Skills & Abilities
- Practicing Roman Catholic with deep faith understanding.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging donors, board members, and community leaders.
- Solid foundation in fundraising practices.
- Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge software.
- Strategic thinker with long-term vision and planning capabilities.
- Results-oriented, detail-oriented, and ethically compliant.
- Comfortable with public speaking and external representation.
- Familiarity with foundation operations and philanthropic structures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and staff effectively.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (nonprofit, business, marketing, etc.).
- Advanced degree and/or CFRE designation preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in fundraising or Church-related roles.
- Proven record of soliciting and closing major, planned, and transformational gifts.
- Experience managing professional staff and volunteer boards.
- Must comply with Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct and Child Safety Training.
- Background screening and valid driver’s license required.
Working Environment
- Evening and weekend work required.
- Travel throughout the Archdiocese.
- Handling of confidential information.
- Extensive computer use and administrative tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats.
