Custodian / Maintenance Supervisor (Part-Time)

Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian/Maintenance Supervisor to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of our church, parish hall, education building, and parish offices. This role ensures a welcoming and well-maintained environment for parishioners, staff, and visitors by performing routine cleaning, coordinating repairs, and supporting parish events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of parish facilities, including restroom upkeep, dusting, vacuuming, floor mopping, upholstery care, window washing, and trash removal.
• Maintain and stock restrooms and ensure facilities are prepared for liturgical services and special events.
• Replace light bulbs, straighten seating, and assist with general facility upkeep.
• Operate cleaning and maintenance equipment safely and follow safety procedures.
• Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support parish activities.
• Communicate effectively with parish staff, vendors, and volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned to ensure smooth parish operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2-3 years custodial or maintenance experience, preferably in a church, school, or institutional setting.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs preferred.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Respectful of sacred spaces and parish environment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks and required child safety training.

Working Conditions:

• Work performed indoors and outdoors across multiple parish facilities.
• Requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Ability to navigate stairs and uneven surfaces and operate cleaning equipment safely.
