Position Summary:
The Assistant Director plays a key role in ensuring the effective operation of Holy Family Shelter by overseeing the intake process, providing administrative support, and managing case management services. This role supervises a dedicated team of social services professionals and assumes responsibility for shelter operations in the Program Director’s absence. The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with the Program Director and the Program Management Team to maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of Intake Process: Supervise the intake team to ensure accurate information is collected, documented, and catalogued. Coordinate the referral and admission process for families entering the shelter.
- Administrative Duties: Ensure all families served are entered into Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) and Client Track. Maintain the intake log and ensure all necessary documentation is correctly recorded.
- Case Management: Supervise and mentor the Lead Case Manager, Case Manager, and Intake Specialist to ensure cases are managed effectively, documented accurately, and services are delivered in a timely manner.
- Human Resources: In consultation with the Program Director, assist in the hiring and termination decisions for supervised positions. Provide coverage for positions as needed.
- Shelter Operations: Assume responsibility for shelter operations and administration during the Program Director’s absence.
- Additional Responsibilities: Support staff and complete tasks as needed. Ensure compliance with laws and confidentiality standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications:
- Education, Training, and/or Experience:
- A degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Affairs, or a related field is preferred. Consideration will be given to years of relevant work experience as a substitute for formal education.
- Experience in homeless residential services and its administration is essential.
- Ability to respond appropriately to cultural differences with children, adults, staff, and the community.
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and manage a team of employees, fostering professional development and adherence to organizational policies.
- Must have reliable transportation and a working phone for contact during shift changes, on-call responsibilities, and emergencies.
- Must be able to understand and comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
- Must successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training.
- A background screening is required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
