Disaster Victims' Assistance

Tornado damage and statue of MaryCatholic Charities provides long-term disaster recovery for all those affected by disasters in designated areas. In recent years many parts of Indiana have been affected. As of March 3, we have been on location in Southern Indiana helping those affected by the March 2 Tornadoes.

We serve anyone needing help: replacing property and assisting with emotional issues from the storms. We help fill the gap between FEMA, insurance and other assistance to get you back in your home or to help replace damaged/destroyed property. Here are a few examples of things we can help with:

  • Counseling: provided by professionally licensed therapists
  • Roofs
  • Vehicle window repair
  • Drywall replacement
  • Plumbing and electrical replacement
  • Rent
  • Temporary Housing
  • Replacement of lost or damaged household goods
  • Tree and debris removal
  • Fences and outbuilding rebuilding

How do you know if you need counseling?

  • Your general stress level has risen since the storm.
  • You or your children are still having nightmares about it.
  • You are afraid to go outside, especially when it looks like it is going to rain.
  • You can't stop thinking about "what if".
  • Your kids are talking about the storm frequently or making up stories about what happened, trying to process it all.
  • You were injured, a loved one was injured or was killed.

These are just a few examples. Please let us know if you need to talk to someone. We're here to help.
