A sincere, heartfelt thank you to Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin

Archbishop Tobin with a familyFrom the editor: As a journalist, it’s hard to put into words how much Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin has touched lives throughout his four years as the shepherd of the Church in central and southern Indiana. Adding pictures and other artistic elements to the story probably doesn’t do it justice either. But the staff of The Criterion has spent the last month perusing past issues of the newspaper, trying to capture the essence of Cardinal Tobin’s ministry here. This week’s issue is meant to be a special keepsake to help readers celebrate Cardinal Tobin’s years as the shepherd of our local Church. (Page 3)

Farewell to Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin

Cardinal Joseph W. TobinThis week's issue of The Criterion, at 60 pages, is the largest issue we've ever produced. It is both a thank you and a farewell to the man who has served as our archbishop for the past four years. The issue features ten "defining moments" from his life, nine pages of photos from his childhood to the recent consistory in Rome, a photo mosaic front page, infographics about cardinals, and details on such things as his new coat-of-arms. It also looks back to the last cardinal that came from our archdiocese--Joseph E. Ritter--and looks forward to what our relationship with Cardinal Tobin may look like in the years to come. And, on the lighter side, it includes the advice of children for the new cardinal. (Pages 1-60)
