Fellow parishioners share special bond of life, faith through transplant surgeries

Women praying togetherTwo fellow parishioners, acquainted with each other but not close friends, happen to see each other in a business and strike up a conversation. This kind of meeting can occur at any time, and one might not think twice about it. But a conversation in a bank in Shelbyville about a year ago between Deb Dalley and Marcia Adams, both members of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Shelby County, changed their lives forever. In late spring last year, Adams’ doctors told her that polycystic kidney disease had decreased the function of her kidneys so much that she needed to have a transplant. (Page 1)

Girl Scout hopes project helps unite faith communities

RallyTheresa Bridge knows the challenges that can arise when two people or two faith communities are asked to come together in the hope of creating a connection that has the potential to be even more special. So the 16-year-old student at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis decided to become “part of the solution” when she realized there would be growing pains as Holy Cross Parish in Indianapolis merged into St. Philip Neri Parish in Indianapolis as part of the archdiocese’s “Connected in the Spirit” plan. (Page 15)
