Mother/daughter duo impress crowd with pro-life message at 40 Days for Life midpoint rally in Indianapolis

Mother and daughterPro-life activist Maria Hernandez has come a long way in eight years, when she was “far from my home and my family [in Guadalajara, Mexico], lonely, in a relationship I knew was going nowhere, and pregnant.” She spoke her pro-life message to about 75 people at the 40 Days for Life midpoint rally in front of the Planned Parenthood abortion center in Indianapolis on March 14. Indiana bishops respond to state Religious Freedom Restoration Act

"The recent passage of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in Indiana appears to have divided the people of our state like few other issues in recent memory. We urge all people of good will to show mutual respect for one another so that the necessary dialogue and discernment can take place to ensure that no one in Indiana will face discrimination whether it is for their sexual orientation or for living their religious beliefs."

Chrism MassThe annual archdiocesan chrism Mass, at which oils to be used in parishes throughout the archdiocese for the sacraments are consecrated, took place at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis on March 31. Hundreds of people from all over the archdiocese attended, including many priests and deacons. Archbishop Joseph W. Tobin celebrated the Mass.
