Archbishop Tobin reflects on gift of vocations at the start of the Year of Consecrated Life

Archbishop and religious sisterThe Church began observing the Year of Consecrated Life in late November at the beginning of Advent. It will conclude on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on Feb. 2, 2016, which also annually marks the Church’s World Day for Consecrated Life. Archbishop Tobin recently spoke about the Year of Consecrated Life with The Criterion, reflecting on religious life both in central and southern Indiana and around the world. Indiana Catholic Conference continues advocacy against death penalty

Blind young manA bill to revoke Indiana’s death penalty stalled at the gate as Hoosier lawmakers decided against giving the ban a chance to move forward through the legislative process. The Indiana Catholic Conference (ICC), the Indiana bishops’ official representative for public policy matters in the state, has a long record of working to repeal the death penalty in favor of sentencing people convicted of capital crimes a life sentence without the possibility of parole as the preferred option.
