2012 Religious Vocations Supplement

Benedictine monksEach year, the first issue of The Criterion is our religious vocations supplement, which highlights men and women who are serving the Church as priests, deacons and religious, as well as those in formation for any of those vocations. This year's supplement includes stories about a deacon, Archbishop Tobin, an archdiocesan seminarian, a Franciscan sister in Montana, and a day in the life of a parish priest. (Pages 7-14)

Indianapolis transitional deacon serves Christmas Eve Mass with pope

Pope Benedict and serverTransitional Deacon Martin Rodriguez received a special Christmas gift a few weeks before the celebration of Christ’s birth when he was invited to assist Pope Benedict XVI during a Christmas Eve night Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican. Six deacons assisted at the Mass. Deacon Rodriguez, a member of St. Mary Parish in Indianapolis, was one of two to remain at the pope’s side during the entire liturgy. (Page 19)

Front Page Image Compilations

Front page compilation We've taken the past five years of Criterion issues from our print edition and made separate compilations of front page images. You can look at 2005-10 and see every front page from that year put into one picture -- kind of a birds-eye view of the year in Catholic news in Indiana.
