My Journey to God

God and Me Together in the Storm

Lightning and thunder in the storm.
Could God be Lightning?
Could I be thunder?
God and me together in the storm?

God, like Lightning—brilliant illumination,
electrical, awe-inspiring,
sometimes seen, sometimes unseen.
Always preceding, always awaiting the thunder …
me.

Lightning causes thunder.
Without it,
thunder wouldn’t be.

Lightning flashes, sheds its light.
When and what will thunder’s answer be?
A delayed, distant, rolling rumble?
Or an immediate clap! crack! boom!
My answer to
You can be like that too,
delayed, unsure,
or
immediate, forceful.

It’s when Lightning and thunder are in harmony
in the sky,
God is near
and I am hand in hand with You
together
in the storm.
