Senior Companion Program

Senior Citizens TogetherThe Senior Companion Program is a peer to peer program for older adults. The program links Senior Companion volunteers with frail older adults who would benefit from a friendly visitor in order to remain in their homes. 

While the primary purpose is companionship, Senior Companions may also assist with variety of helpful tasks including light meal preparation, appropriate exercise, respite care for family/caregivers, occasional light housework, and escort to medical appointments.

  • Must be at least 55 years old
  • Able to volunteer at least 15 hours per week
  • Meet income guidelines
  • Must pass government mandated background checks, including FBI fingerprint
  • Love to help their neighbors and remain active in their community

  • Tax Free stipend of $3.00 per hour
  • Travel reimbursement to cover cost of travel between Senior Companion’s home and person matched

Are you or a loved one in need of a Senior Companion?

If you or a loved one needs companionship, the Senior Companion Program may be right for you or your loved one. The program connects older frail adults living at home with trained peer volunteers to share a friendly conversation, to encourage socialization while minimizing loneliness and isolation.  If qualified, this service is offered at no cost to individuals and their families living within the community.
