Maintenance Supervisor

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Supervisor to support the daily operation, upkeep, and appearance of Fatima Retreat House. This position performs hands‑on maintenance work while coordinating with leadership, contracted vendors, and facilities staff to ensure safe, functional, and welcoming facilities in support of the Church’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist leadership with coordination, scheduling, and oversight of contracted maintenance services
- Perform general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, systems, and equipment
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks (filters, light bulbs, plumbing traps, doors, windows, equipment checks)
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs
- Set up and break down rooms for events, meetings, and retreats
- Maintain exterior grounds, supplementing contracted services for snow removal, leaf removal, mowing, and tree care
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and Archdiocesan policies
- Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate maintenance records
- Coordinate work with building staff to minimize disruption of activities
- Perform custodial and cleaning duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned to ensure efficient facility operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in maintenance, custodial work, or facility operations preferred
- Working knowledge of building systems and repair techniques
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Ability to manage workload, multiple priorities, and staff effectively
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with OSHA and workplace safety standards preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of background screening and Child Safety Training
- Compliance with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
- Willingness to support and foster the mission of the Catholic Church
Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions. Position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and occasional evening, weekend, and emergency work.
