Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager oversees the daily maintenance, repair, and appearance of multiple Archdiocesan facilities. This role manages in‑house maintenance staff and coordinates contracted services to ensure all buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, functional, and well maintained in support of the mission of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Property Management
  • Maintain and prioritize a current list of maintenance and grounds projects
  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee in‑house and contracted maintenance services
  • Perform and oversee repairs to buildings, grounds, equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures, furniture, and vehicles (as appropriate)
  • Ensure completion of scheduled preventative maintenance tasks
  • Assist with furniture and equipment moves as needed
  • Maintain exterior grounds when necessary
  • Coordinate and respond to emergency maintenance issues, including some evenings and weekends
  • Supervise and support maintenance staff and volunteers
  • Ensure facilities are clean, secure, organized, and well maintained
  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of supplies, equipment, energy, and personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient facility operations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience in maintenance, custodial work, or facilities operations preferred
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and staff effectively
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with OSHA and general workplace safety standards preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required

Additional Requirements

  • Must successfully complete background screening and Child Safety Training
  • Must comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
  • Willingness to support and foster the mission of the Catholic Church

Working Conditions
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions. Position requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and occasional overtime, including evenings, weekends, and emergency situations.
