Position Summary
The Educational Coordinator is a key member of the Ryves Youth Center team, responsible for developing and coordinating out-of-school programming focused on education, recreation, and nutrition. This role engages directly with youth and their families, ensuring impactful and enriching experiences while promoting educational achievement and personal development.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging educational curriculum tailored to youth needs and local academic standards.
- Coordinate youth programming with schools, local educators, and community partners.
- Manage and promote the youth incentive.
- Supervise, support and train volunteers involved in educational and recreational activities.
- Maintain program schedules and ensure timely communication through internal tools and website updates.
- Assist with data tracking and reporting for grant and internal program evaluation.
- Provide crisis intervention support when necessary.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Youth Center.
- Actively collaborate with the Program Director and staff to enhance overall program quality and reach.
- Foster inclusive, creative, and developmentally appropriate opportunities for youth.
- Uphold the values and mission of Catholic Charities and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree in education or youth-related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting strongly preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational and curriculum development skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Internet); Canva experience a plus.
- Ability to assess educational needs and collaborate with schools and educators.
- Skilled at managing volunteers and working with diverse populations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate, self-motivated, and mission-driven.
- Willingness to assist in development and fundraising efforts.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Completion of Child Safety Training and adherence to the Archdiocese Code of Conduct.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Work takes place primarily at Ryves Youth Center.
- Physical activity includes bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, and walking.
- Typical hours are afternoons and evenings, with some weekends and holidays as needed.
- Occasional travel within Terre Haute may be required.
