Human Resources Specialist

The Human Resources Specialist plays a key role in supporting the Archdiocese’s employees and retirees by administering retirement and benefit programs. This position serves as a primary resource for retirement-related inquiries and ensures the accurate processing of benefits and HR-related documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Retirement and Pension Administration
- Assist with 403(b) auto-enrollment and manual enrollment
- Process and review 403(b) distributions
- Respond to general 403(b)-related inquiries
- Administer pension benefit calculations and prepare distribution paperwork for both lay and priest plans
- Gather data to determine pension eligibility and perform data verification and corrections
Clergy Benefits and Reimbursements
- Administer reimbursements including Medicare Part B, Medical/Dental/Vision, and Long-Term Care (LTC)
Benefits Continuation & HR Support
- Administer continuation of benefits: send offers, calculate payments, and track receipts
- Track and review I-9 forms; upload into HRIS
- Coordinate changes between HR and Central Payroll, ensuring accurate Payroll Action Forms
- Track and file Catholic Center employee performance appraisals
- Administer tuition reduction program
Additional Responsibilities
- Prepare supplemental insurance reports and billing (AUL)
- Support planning and coordination of annual Employee Recognition Luncheon
- Provide professional and courteous service to employees, clergy, retirees, and applicants regarding HR policies and benefits
- Prioritize and respond to email, voicemail, and mail in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate personnel files and update HR forms and policies as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred
- Previous experience in Human Resources or benefits administration required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Must comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
- Completion of Child Safety Training required
- Successful background screening required
- Valid driver’s license required
