Position Overview
Scecina Memorial High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Facilities Manager to help maintain the integrity, safety, and appearance of our campus facilities. This full-time position supports the Facilities Manager in overseeing daily maintenance, repairs, custodial functions, and campus operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This role requires hands-on maintenance work and includes both scheduled and emergency tasks across various building systems and campus grounds. The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, and capable of managing physical tasks in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect buildings and grounds daily for cleanliness, safety, and organization.
- Perform and ensure completion of routine maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Respond to and coordinate non-scheduled or emergency maintenance issues.
- Oversee and assist with snow and ice removal when contracted services are unavailable.
- Move and arrange furniture or equipment as needed.
- Supervise, schedule, and direct custodial staff to ensure high performance and efficient operations.
- Provide emergency maintenance support during and outside of regular school hours, including weekends.
- Conduct landscaping tasks and groundskeeping, including upkeep of adjacent school-owned properties.
- Assist in maintaining the school’s sports complex, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Support the Facilities Manager in developing and managing the department’s budget.
- Safeguard the school’s assets through responsible stewardship of supplies, equipment, and energy resources.
- Perform custodial duties and various other tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of school facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor including climbing ladders, bending, and working in varied conditions.

Additional Requirements
- Must pass a background screening.
- Completion of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training and adherence to the Code of Conduct.

Working Environment
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors, including roof access and exposure to all weather conditions.
- Occasional exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, and extreme temperatures.
