St. Rose School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cafeteria Manager to lead the daily operations of our school cafeteria, serving 100-150 students each school day. This position is crucial to ensuring the provision of nutritious meals and maintaining an efficient and safe cafeteria environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, prepare, and serve balanced, nutritious meals to students.
  • Manage all operational aspects of the cafeteria, including meal preparation, service, and cleanliness.
  • Oversee meal and nutrition planning to meet student dietary needs and preferences.
  • Purchase food and supplies within allocated budget limits, ensuring proper inventory control.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring safe food handling practices and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Collaborate with school administration to address special dietary requirements or preferences.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all food safety guidelines.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, students, and school administration.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and food handling standards.
  • Ability to manage a budget and control inventory efficiently.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations or challenges.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Prior experience in food service management or a similar role, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  • Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain certification upon hire) is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based in a school kitchen, with daily interaction with students and staff.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular exposure to kitchen equipment, hot surfaces, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Work hours typically align with school schedules, with additional time required for meal prep and cleanup.
