My Journey to God

Starting Over in Lent

Awakened
In the dark of morning
I realize
the journey continues.

I am walking
an acceptable road
in an acceptable time.

The very air is light,
heady with the power
of many souls freed of burdens
singing praise, giving thanks,
breaking heavy chains of habit
shaking off selfishness.

Taking a deep breath,
I start over.
