ArchIndy Vox’s summer episodes highlight vocations, creation and the U.S. and its 250th anniversary

Criterion staff report

ArchIndy Vox podcast logoThe Archdiocese of Indianapolis’ ArchIndy Vox podcast is launching its summer schedule with new episodes that invite listeners to reflect on faith, vocations and the Church’s role in the life and history of America as the United States marks its semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary.

Available now on ArchIndy Vox’s Spotify channel is a special early summer episode featuring the three transitional deacons who will be ordained to the priesthood at 10 a.m. on June 6 at SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis, offering a personal look at their journeys to ordination and their hopes for serving the Church.

Two June episodes will connect directly with the nation’s milestone 250th anniversary.

Father James Brockmeier, archdiocesan director of worship and rector of SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral, will explore the U.S. bishops’ consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and its significance as the country celebrates its 250th birthday—helping listeners better understand the meaning of this moment of national prayer and renewal and how we are all called to participate as faithful citizens.

In a separate podcast, archdiocesan archivist Julie Motyka and Criterion reporter and columnist Sean Gallagher will share stories of inspirational Catholics who have helped shape both American and Indiana history.

In July, listeners are invited to reflect on finding God in everyday moments—like a sunset or a quiet walk.

In this episode, Archbishop Charles C. Thompson and Alexander Mingus, executive director of the Indiana Catholic Conference, explore “Integral Ecology,” showing how our faith and the world around us are deeply connected—and how simple, intentional choices in our daily lives can help us care for creation right where we are. They will also discuss what inspired Indiana’s Catholic bishops to write a joint pastoral reflection on the topic, as well as the details of the letter published this spring.
