Bereavement Series -- February 2014 thru April 2014
Join us for the winter bereavement series at St. Mary’s Catholic Church,208 S. East Street, Greensburg, IN. Bereavement videos (less than 1 hour) will be presented in the Education Center followed by a short prayer service. The public is welcome and no reservations are required. If you have any questions, please contact the St. Mary’s Parish Office at 812-663-8427 and ask that a member of the Bereavement Ministry Team call you back.

Neurological Criteria for the Determination of Death ("Brain Death") and the Ethical Issues Associated with Organ Transplantation - March 12, 2014
On Wednesday March 12, Father Tadeusz Pacholczyk, Ph.D. will be presenting on “Neurological Criteria for the Determination of Death ("Brain Death") and the Ethical Issues Associated with Organ Transplantation” at the St. Luke Catholic Church at 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, 46260 as part of the Lenten Soup Supper Series. The evening will begin with Mass at 5:30 PM followed by the soup supper at 6:30 PM. The presentation will begin at 7:15 PM. Fr. Tad is the Director of Education at the National Catholic Bioethics Center and is the author of a column called Making Sense of Bioethics that appears in various diocesan newspapers across the country.
After earning a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Yale University, Fr. Tad did post-doctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School. He subsequently studied in Rome where he did advanced studies in theology and in bioethics. Father Tad’s presentation will address organ transplantation, euthanasia, physician assisted suicide and obligatory and optional medical means.

Helpers of God's Precious Infants Prayer Vigils - Saturday, March 15, 2014
All are invited to attend the Indianapolis Helpers of God’ Precious Infants Prayer Vigil on Saturday, March 15, 2014, beginning with 8:30 AM Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 3354 W. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222. A caravan will proceed to the nearby abortion facility to pray the Rosary. After the Rosary, all will return to St. Michael Parish for closing prayers ending at 10:45 AM. Those who do not process may remain in the church for adoration.
**This event is held every 3rd Saturday of the month.

Helpers of God's Precious Infants Prayer Vigils – April 5, 2014
All are invited to attend the Terre Haute Helpers of God’ Precious Infants Prayer Vigil on Saturday April 5, 2014, beginning with 7:30 AM Mass at 7:30 AM Mass at the Carmelite Monaster, 59 Allendale, Terre Haute. A caravan will proceed to the Planned Parenthood at 30 S 3rd St, Terre Haute, IN 47807 to pray the Rosary. At 10 AM, the group will proceed to St. Patrick Adoration Chapel at 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute for the closing devotions.

Divorce and Beyond Program for Separated and Divorced – beginning April 8, 2014
A six-session Divorce and Beyond Program will begin on Tuesday April 8 at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 7575 Holliday Drive, E., Indianapolis, IN from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The topics for discussion will include the process of divorce, self-image, stress, anger, blame, guilt, loneliness, and forgiveness.

12th Annual Mission Day –April 25, 2014

Icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa Tours Indianapolis
The Black Madonna, Icon of Jasna Góra, Our Lady of Czestochowa will be in Indianapolis from Wednesday, April 23 to Friday, April 25 as part of a Worldwide Pilgrimage in Defense of Life. Human Life International's From Ocean to Ocean International Campaign in Defense of Life began in Poland and is making its way through the U.S. before heading on to Mexico.
While the Icon is in Indianapolis it will visit the host parish St. Athanasius the Great Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, two abortion facilities and SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral before transferring in procession to its next host location, Joy of All Who Sorrow Eastern Orthodox Church. Confronting Death: A Christian Approach to the End of Life – May 20, 2014
A wise pastor was asked what he would recommend as the path to spiritual maturity. The pastor responded without hesitation, “You must learn about death.”
Fr. Robert Botthof O.P. a Dominican Friar at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, will facilitate a 2.5 hour workshop at the Catholic Center, 1400 N. Meridian Street on Tuesday, May 20 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. The program will include a video presentation, “Confronting Death: A Christian Approach to the End of Life” with author Walter Wangerin, followed by group discussion upon “learning of the serious illness of a loved one and the events that follow”.
Fr. Robert has a unique background. He is a widower, married 23 years with five grandchildren. After his wife Mary’s death, he entered the Dominican Order in 1982 at the age 55 and was ordained a priest in 1987 upon the completion of his studies at The Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis. Since that time, Fr. Robert has been associated with “The Beginning Experience International Ministry” and has participated in many workshops and retreats for the divorced, separated, and widowed. He will share his personal experiences and offer some reflection on coping with terminal illness and the inevitability of death of a loved one.

This event is held every 1st Saturday of the month beginning with 7:30 a.m. Mass at the Carmelite Monaster, 59 Allendale, Terre Haute. The details of the vigil are as follows:

9:25 AM Park benind Vigo County Court House or wherever one can find a parking place.
Note: Parking is often available along Ohio Blvd. and participants houdl not park it the Planned Parenthood lot.
9:30 AM Assemble on sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood at 30 S 3rd Street, Terre Haute
Hours of the clinic are 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM on Saturdays.
10:00 AM Travel to St. Patrick Adoration Chapel for the Divine Mercy Chapelet at 1807 Poplar Street, Terre Haute
10:30 AM Devotions are finished.
Helpers of God's Precious Infants Prayer Vigils - Indianapolis
This event is held every 3rd Saturday of the month beginning with 8:30 a.m. Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 3354 W. 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Following Mass, participants prayerfully proceed to the nearby abortion clinic and pray a rosary. Upon return to the church the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited followed by Benediction. The devotions conclude between 10:30-10:45 a.m. Those who do not process to the clinic may remain in the church for adoration.
