Deadline Extended for Propagation of the Faith Essay Contest
NEW YORK – After receiving inquiries and requests from high schools and youth ministry programs from throughout the United States, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, a Pontifical Mission Society, has extended the deadline for its essay contest until January 15, 2009.
That contest asks high school age students the question, “Got ‘Good News’?” It encourages young people to tell the story of a missionary they know who shares the “Good News” of Jesus with others. These same youth are invited to tell how they may have been missionaries themselves, sharing their faith with others in a missionary setting overseas.
Entries (500 words) should be sent to the national office of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Attention: Essay Contest (366 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10001); these entries should now be postmarked by January 15, 2009. Winners will be announced in February 2009; the first-place essay will be published in the award-winning MISSION magazine.
