Bereavement Ministry provides assistance through retreats, conferences and peer support for those who have lost loved ones.

 

Holiday Season Bereavement Suppport Group - November 5

Beginning Monday, November 5th at 7 pm St. Jude in Indianapolis will host an 8 week support group is for all those who have lost a loved one and are looking to share with others who grieve. We will walk through the process of mourning and grief, as well as provide support during the upcoming holiday season. An Evening of Holiday Grief Support - November 8

The Eastside Community(Holy Spirit ~ Little Flower ~ Our Lady of Lourdes ~ St. Philip Neri) offers an evening of support on coping with holiday grief on Thursday, November 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit in the Parish Center. Seasons of Hope - Christ Centered Grief Support

grieving womanSOH is a bereavement ministry centered on Jesus Christ and grouonded in the healing wisdom, traditions, and practices of our Catholic Church. The program illustrates how to develop a faith sharing ministry for those who have lost a loved one and find themselves having difficulty moving beyond their grief. The program offers six weekly sessions exploring mourning through scripture, prayer, reflection and sharing.
If you are in need of consolation after losing a loved one, this faith sharing group and other Catholic bereavement support programs are offered at several parishes thoughout the year.

SURVIVORS OF SUICIDE SUPPORT GROUP

Hope and Healing - St. Mark Catholic Church offers a monthly support group for adults who have lost a loved one to suicide, or struggle with thoughts of suicide, or seek to understand the causes and prevention of suicide. The meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. PLEASE CALL FOR MEETING LOCATION
Spread Your Wings - A children's support group, ages 9 to 17 years is held at the same time, same location, different room.

GRIEVING LIFE'S LOSSES - Come Journey with Us: You Are Not Alone

The Eastside Catholic Community: Holy Spirit ~ Little Flower ~ Our Lady of Lourdes ~ St. Philip Neri, will be sponsoring a monthly support group for those who have suffered a loss of any kind – death, divorce, job, etc. If you feel lost, alone, or wonder if what you are going through is normal, please consider this a place to be with others who face similar grief or challenges.Meetings will be held on the 2nd Thursday of each month beginning on August 10th at Holy Spirit Parish in the Parish Center, from 7-9pm.For more information contact Peggy Clegg at 317-357-8352 or pclegg@littleflowerparish.org.

MEMORIAL MASSES

A memorial mass is offered 2:00 PM the Third Wednesday of every month at Calvary Mausoleum Chapel, unless noted and  2PM the Third Thursday of every month at Our Lady of Pease Mausoleum Chapel.

 

18th Annual Mission Day - 2019 date TBA

Each year the Office of Marriage and Family offers a day of reflection, education, and support for those involved in consolation ministries or those wishing to become involved. Previous Mission Day topics have included: Understanding and Responding to Traumatic Loss; Living in the "Shadows of the Ghosts" of Grief; Suicide Grief/Mental Illness; The Joy of Serving the Brokenhearted; A Family’s Grief - Recognizing and Responding to Each Member’s Loss; Building Comprehensive Grief Ministry Teams; and our most recent 2018 End of Life Issues and Moral Ethics. These full day conferences are held at Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House.

 

Archdiocean Ministry of Consolation Core Team (AMCCT)

The AMCCT representing the four Indianapolis deaneries provides to those involved in, or wishing to be involved in, Consolation Ministry the opportunity to develop or enhance their parish outreach programs to the brokenhearted through networking, education, training, and continuous support.  The intent is to build an archdiocesan community where those who have lost a loved one feel the care and comfort of the Holy Spirit and their church.  These core team members are available to share their knowledge in consolation ministries and offer support to those caring for the bereaved. Please feel free to contact them for bereavement related needs or concerns.
