My Journey to God

Awareness

I noticed how
the snow and cold
took hold of my hands
and led me back inside;
winter’s way
of inviting me to inwardness,
wrapping me, like a blanket,
in stillness,
nurturing me with
a peace and calm
where I feel safe and secure.
In the quiet, I realized
Jesus must have felt just like this
on the night He was born,
and it was Mary’s arms that displayed
the Christmas gifts I desired most—
to find rest,
to be held
and to feel utterly loved.
