My Journey to God

Holding On To Hope

I empty pockets of my heart,
Relieve the aging seams.
Reluctantly I sort and weigh
A wealth of fingered dreams.

Time-tempered goals worn lusterless
Are better left behind
Along with woven fantasies
Too tangled to unwind.

But eagerly I salvage those
Of lesser size and scope,
That fit the fragile lining—and
The wrinkled hand of hope.
