My Journey to God

The Button Jar

Whose garments did
These buttons grace?
They take me back
Through time and space.

They shimmer in
The morning light,
As though they held
A rare insight.

Into the lives
Of those since past,
And to the souls
Perfecting task.

These tiny orbs
Turn into prayer,
As I sit on “idle”
Visit there.

And in this prayer
A hopeful plea.
Bring them home,
Dear God, to thee.
