DACA Renewals

If you already have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and want information on renewing your DACA, see the information below.

Your status of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals expires every two years.  Before it expires, you are required to renew your status.  USCIS permits a DACA recipient to apply as early as 150 DAYS BEFORE THE EXPIRATION OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION CARDYou can apply for renewal closer to your expiration date but you may run the risk of your status expiring before your receive renewal.  USCIS recommends an applicant filing for renewal at least by 120 days before the expiration date.

If your status (or your Employment Authorization Card) has already expired or will expire within 150 days, please contact our office for assistance in renewing your DACA status.

Here are some helpful tips for preparing for your renewal:

  • USCIS charges the same fee amount as the initial application.  The fee is $465.00.  You will want to begin saving for this.
  • You are required to submit the same Forms as the initial application.  However, THE FORMS HAVE CHANGED.  YOU MUST SUBMIT UP-TO-DATE FORMS.
  • You are not required to submit the same personal documents as the initial application.
  • You should obtain the following documents:
    • Your Employment Authorization Card
    • Your Social Security Card
    • Another photo ID, such as Driver’s License or Passport
    • Letters of approval for your initial DACA and Employment Authorization
    • 2 Passport-style photos, taken within 30 days of submitting your renewal application
    • If you have traveled outside the country since the time your initial application was approved, you will need to show proof of this
    • If you have been arrested, charged or convicted of a crime, or other criminal or immigration activity since the time your initial application was approved, you will need to show proof of this
