World Refugee Day Dinner Refugee and Immigrant Services

Tuesday, June 23rd, 6:30PM

Please join the refugee resettlement programs ofIndianapolis in recognitionofWorldRefugee Day. The evening will feature a talk by former UN peace builder, Clive Jachnik, ethnic food from local restaurants, refugee artwork, music by DJ Kyle Long,and an opportunity to hear from the programs who are working to welcome refugees to Indianapolis. REGISTER HERE.

14th annual Bob Coffman Memorial Golf Scramble

Hole #10Form a foursome and register for a day on the links of the Bluff Creek Golf Course on Sunday, June 28. Check-in is from Noon to 1pm. Shotgun start is at 1:00. Dinner to follow the outing. Caregiver Support meetings

Catholic Charities Indianapolis sponsors monthly caregiver support groups for family members who are caregivers of older adults. Meetings are open to the community and are a way for family caregivers to share and learn from each other. 20 people needed to volunteer by June. RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), a Catholic Charities Indianapolis program, needs people who are 55 and older to support community programs and at the same time help us meet our volunteer recruitment goal. You can help by joining RSVP and volunteering for a short amount of time on ONE day. To share your time at the event below, contact RSVP to get connected. One Day Event: Letter Carrier Food Drive to Support Gleaners Food Bank

The Letter Carrier Food Drive is the nation’s largest single-day food drive – last year over 140,000 pounds of donations were collected in just one day. This year it will be Saturday May 9th. At each post office, volunteers will help letter carriers unload their trucks and separate items by category into cardboard totes. Gleaners truck drivers will come around and collect totes at the end of the shift.

Volunteer-wise, there is a need for 1-2 site leaders (there for the whole shift and responsible for getting others signed in and collecting forms), 2-6 volunteers for the first half of the shift, and 5-15 volunteers for the second half of the shift. Times listed are approximations based on 2014 needs. Post office will let us know their hours closer to the date.

Connect with Older Adults through Adult Day Programs—Once a Month/Saturday Opportunities

RSVP works with two adult day programs, Still Waters in northeast Indianapolis at 71st and Shadeland and A Caring Place in Butler Tarkington at 46th and Illinois. Both programs need volunteers who enjoy spending time with older adults. Still Waters is looking for volunteers on a weekly or monthly basis. They’re open Monday - Friday in addition to the upcoming Saturdays from 8:30-4:30: April 25, May 9 & 30, and June 13 & 27. A few hours playing checkers or cards, or visiting one-on-one with participants would be appreciated. They also need lunch help on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11:15-1:15. A Caring Place is open Monday – Friday and needs volunteers to assist the craft leader with craft projects once a month. They also need dining help from 8 to 10, and from 11 - 2.


Magic of Caring benefitting A Caring Place Adult Day Services - Mark your calendar for Friday, Sept. 18th.

Plan to join us at the Ritz Charles in Carmel for this special evening of magic and comedy as we support the work of A Caring Place. Humorist and entertainer Matt Fore has performed for audiences on Carnival Cruise Lines as well as on The Nashville Network. He promises, "Hilarity for the head, humor for the heart."

Reception begins at 6:30 with dinner to begin at 7:00. Please check back for more details.
