Bookkeeper

St. Jude Parish in Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper.

The Bookkeeper is a steward of the financial resources of the parish, responsible for providing bookkeeping services to the parish as a whole or a specific ministry or program.  The Bookkeeper maintains the parish financial system, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash receipts.  The Bookkeeper balances accounts, ledgers, reconciles bank statements, and prepares financial statements, while maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.  This employee will work closely with the Business Management Team and Office Administrator. 

Candidate must possess basic accounting skills, understanding of accounting reports, and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel and QuickBooks.  Candidate must be self-motivated, demonstrating the capability to work independently and proactively with minimal direct instruction, while also possessing the ability to recognize issues requiring escalation to the Business Manager and/or Pastor.  Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral and written communication skills.

Bachelor Degree in Finance or related field is preferred, or equivalent education and work experience to demonstrate capability.  Practical experience of 3+ years in a related field is also preferred.
